This is the same problem Kris described in his SOS message and a number of people have been suffering from it for over a week now. I'm particularly concerned for new members like Mary, who have never been able to see a slideshow.
Some of them are probably blaming themselves!

I only can repeat that for me everything works fine it must be some tricky bug deep within the programming or a silly thing that just doesn't come into view...
At my side the slides are working on all different types of connections... Either on windows 2000 on Firefox or Internet Explorer or Mac on Safari, Camino and Firefox...
I had a problem with the new version too (not with the slides, though) , I've been told to empty the cache and now everything is fine again... sometimes it's a stupid small thing... to understand computers sometimes is harder than understanding women ;-) hehehe
