Going to be in the Washington D.C. area for a week in December.... I'm looking for some interesting things to see/do, and good places for photographs (which of course I'll be sharing here when I return!). Anyone with a favorite tip or two, please respond.
Happy travels,
Liz

I realize this is pretty late, but maybe you'll go back!
The downtown mall offers so many Smithsonian Museums for free and they all offer something unique and worthwhile. My favorite one, however, is located about 30 miles West of the downtown mall - it's the Udvar-Hazy extension of the National Air and Space Museum. There you can see the Enterprise Space Shuttle and SR-71 Blackbird among other things - all life-sized!
