My best friend is going to Barcelona and is looking for a good hostel. She and her friends want something close to the center. I have seen hostels lists and notice that Gothic Point and Sea Point are well ranked.. but I would prefer to hear some personal experiences. Does anybody has gone to any of these hostels?????

Dont know these two, but we noticed so many hostels in Barcelona, must have been the olympics that got them built. Unless you get there during a major event like the Formula 1 Grandprix (8th May) you have a good choice of accomodation. See also
-we stayed at the Hotel Maritima (really a hostel), about $20 for a double room, central and right at the new Waterfront. Very basic and family run, but since we were out all day and most the night, it was basically just a bed and shower we needed, no fancy stuff.
Tip: rent bicycles or inline-skates, beaches then only 10 minutes away, lot of wide paved paths, beach area is 5km long!
Gothic Point is extremely near from the center.. Its location is very good, because you are near from the main places and far enough from the ugly and dangerous places (i.e. Ramblas in the night, The Raval Barri)... Gothic is 2 steps far from Av. Laietana
dunno about the other one, but i stayed in gothic point a couple years ago, and i really liked it. it's very close to everything, clean, really friendly, cool people, and it has character. overall a good experience. :)
