I did finally buy the ixus v3 in November and it is just great, no... even better!!! The sad thing so, is that I left it on the beach and went for the shadow just for 30 min. By the time I came back the tide did come in blasting fast and my camera is no more! Well actually it was just a drop of water but enough to stop it from working :-(( Lucky me that I do have my old IXUS II with me. Its hard to go back to analog since you have to buy expensive APS films. With the digi one you can just go for all the great pictures *I took 185 pictures on Frazer Island Australia!!* I really look forward to repairing it once I am back in good old Germany :-))

I am just in the process of trying to decide which digital camera to go with....there are currently 3 forerunners so if anyone has used any of the following any feedback would be appreciated.
They are the Olympus C-730 ultrazoom (3.2 pixels & 10 x optical zoom) or the Canon C-50 zoom (5 pixels & 3 x zoom) or the Canon IXUS v3. It seems that quite a few fellow globies have used the Canon but I am curious to know if anyone has used the other two.

I wouldn't wait too long before getting the camera repaired.
It doesn't take long for saltwater to cause corotion on the PCB of the camera - then you may have to kiss it Good bye.....

I'm a big fan of the Sony Cyber-shot U (DSC-U10 or DSC-U20). It's a digital camera and it's great because it's tiny... about the size of half a candybar. Small cameras are great because you can always have them with you. And with a digital camera you can fit hundreds of pictures in a memory card, so you're not carrying around a bunch of film you have to get developed later.

My camera equipment is pathetic...as you can probably see in my gallery. All underwater pictures are taken with a disposable camera; which leads me to the question: Does anyone know a cheap and relatively good reusable underwater camera? Preferably with flash.
For the rest of the pics I have used a Kodak DX 3500. Can take very good landscape pics, but gets very blurry if you try to include people. The older pics are taken with my Olympus TRIP AF 30.
I really want a good camera, but because of the costs of developing it has to be digital...and good digital=expencive. Oh, the days when I'm finished with studying *dreaming*

I am currently down in South America and half my backpack is camera gear. lol. and i even left most of the lenses at home.
ohh well you have to suffer to get the good pictures.
I have a Canon 1v body and a couple lenses with me. the canon 16-35 2.8L lense. and a Canon 28-135 IS 3.5-5.6 lense. Then about a roll of film for every day down here and with the flash equiptment and everything else we are looking at a lot of weight. not to mention I got a little canon digital video camera before I left and all the goodies to go with that.
I shoot only slides and black and white. For my slide film I am a fuji man. I use Velvia 50 rated at 40 ISO and processed normally. I also use Provia 100f. For my black and white I decided to try out a brick of T-max 100 this time as i shot a roll of it in europe and really liked to high contrast prints it made compared to the agfa apx 100 i was using. For my high speed black and white i have some Ilford delta 3200. In reality it is an 800 speed film so I shoot it at 800 if i can. It can be pushed an insane ammount i have heard. Some people have shot it at ISO 48000. (yes thats right)

I use a D-Link dcs 350 webcamera. I think it takes good pictures, about 110 with internal memory, and it was cheap (I got it for $10), and is small. I do not print hard copy pictures so they cost nothing.

Most of my older photo's on this website are taken with an Canon EOS 50 with some extra kit to go with that. My old trustworthy film camera.
I recently bought me a new camera the 5 megapixel Canon. It seems to work alright, but I have not yet put it to the test.
That camera is on one side of my belt, the other side is reserved vor my JVC DVP 3 DV cam.

I am still using my canon digital ixus V3. Unfortunatelly it cought some see water from one of the grate waves in Australia. After returning home 2 months later the camera was functional again ;-) No problems since then. Pictures seem even better than before. Maybe its a bit salt what makes them now special :-)
