We wanted to hike, so we thought mountains, Blue Ridge mountains nearby..and we thought winery...Biltmore Estates nearby, along with a few other wineries. A short five hours later, we were there and thus began a great weekend filled with great locals!
A beautiful region of the United States, mountains everywhere. This town definetely has a college town feel, without the fraternity/sorority feel. I loved the fact that chains were hard to find, this place is very much into supporting your local businesses and also has a very refreshing outlook on being green.
Favourite spots:
The hiking was great, some of our most strenuous, but beautiful, blueberries and raspberries growing in the wild, inviting people to pick them, fresh clean water begging to be drank...beautiful.
Spots: The French Broad Chocolate Lounge - never been to a place like this, had liquid truffels and some kind of beer cake, fantastic!
The City Bakery, great coffee and great pasteries...they know how to do it!
Bruisin Ales - I can't remember or couldn't count how many different beers they carry....a lot, you could find anything you would want here.
What's really great:
The French Broad Outlook, my wife and I renewed our wedding vows here...
Accommodations:
We hotwired it, so we opted for whatever they gave us, nice hotel.
