Favourite spots:
The Fair
The Fair
We have been to the Calgary Flames hockey game, attended a folk music festival. We often visit to Canada's largest historical village, (Heritage Park) and wander through Calgary's birthplace called Fort Calgary. The Calgary Zoo is one of two zoos in Canada that not only have been accredited by the Canadian Wild Life Society, but each animal in the zoo has been accredited as well. We also like to visit the Botanical Garden and Pre-historic Park. Last year the film industry that has used it as a backdrop to many well known movies when Calgary became Hollywood, New York, Afghanistan and Vietnam. The newly renovated Calgary Tower elevates visitors 189 meters (626 ft.) above downtown Calgary fabulous view of the city and the Canadian Rockies.

What's really great:
Rodeo Contest

We hadn't been to the Calgary Stamped for a long time. The Parade route was 3 miles long and lasted for 2 hours. The Stampede is Calgary's biggest Tourist Attraction. There were a lot of great bands, I love the ones from the United States, because they march to a faster drum beat. The R.C.M.P., (Royal Canadian Mounted Police), Musical Ride was there and will stage shows at Spruce Meadows, (the show jumping arena), in SW Calgary. The people who started the Stampede were there in vintage cars and the cloths they wore when they moved to Calgary from Cardston. This means they are Mormons and I wonder how many wives the men had way back then!!! Each year Calgary picks a Parade Princess, this year it was Cheryl Defoe. For the first time all of the past Princess' were riding on horses. They were wearing red cow boy hats that you can only receive if you have participated in raising money for cancer.

Grotto Canyon is in the Bow River valley. You hike through a 2.3-km trail to the canyon at that point you reach the dry riverbed of Grotto Creek. The Grotto Canyon is above you. The canyon a spectacular view of the walls where there are Indian petrographs, (rock paintings).

Hangouts:

My daughter's house is the place I like to hang out. I love playing with my grandson and his dog Rodeo

Restaurants:

I'd rather eat at the Haifa Deli. The hot brisket sandwich or the pastrami on rye is to 'die for'. They also serve pita, humus, falafels, Middle East salads and desserts.

Then again I might eat at Tony Roma’s they make the best beef ribs. I like the onion cake made from sliced onions.

When you are in Calgary you are in beef country. Many people like to go to Hy's Steak Café.

I prefer to eat at the Metropolitan Grill. They feature Triple-A Alberta Angus beef, the famous coconut shrimp martini, Gorgonzola wild mushroom veal scallopini and a molten chocolate souffle. On weekends they have music...now if I could only talk my husband into dancing with me!!!!

Any place in China Town serves greatfood. If you don't want to go to the trendy Italian Cafes go to Little Italy.

Other recommendations:
A Play At My Grandson's School
