When I tell people from other countries that I live in Vegas, the most popular quesion I receive is So which hotel do you live in? I am here to tell you that there is more to this city than The Strip.
I am not yet 21. I can not go clubbing or bar hopping.... so people always wonder how I spend my time here in Las Vegas (a place annoynmous for that kind of stuff). There are many places to go to outside of Las Vegas Blvd. For example there is Lake Las Vegas, a beautiful resort style location near Lake Mead. Red Rock Canyon, great for the outdoor types. Mount Charleston, perfect location during the winter. A desert area where Summerlin Parkway and the 215 highway meet, late at night, it has the most beautiful view of the city.
Favourite spots:
Montelago Resort in Lake Las Vegas, far enough so it feels like you're not in Las Vegas, but close enough to home.
What's really great:
The people are great and due to the high number of international travellers, Vegas is a good place to meet people from other cultures.
Accommodations:
If I had to pick, I think Venetian is the best hotel on the Strip
Restaurants:
Makino's on the courner of Decatur and Flamingo, Cookies by Design on Charleston and Town Center.
Other recommendations:
You can not miss the fountains outside of Bellagio.
