Spring Mill State Park - Indiana
Spring Mill State Park was once an actual village. In 1832 the Hamer brothers took ownership of the village. At that time it became known as Spring Mill.Totally different from the numerous man-made wonders in the United States, this place offers historic as well as natural wonders. This park was reconstructed/ restored in the ealy 1900s and has a lake, shelter, roads and around 8 trails.
Favourite spots:
The stream at the park.
The pioneer village which has a grist, lumbar mill and log cabins. The mill is still operational for demonstration purposes and grinds grain and works as a lumber mill too. Some of the fun activities there are exploring the village, a boat ride through the caves, trail through the park and fishing. The 67-acre Donaldson Woods Nature Preserve showcasing trees as old as 300 years in a hardwood forest similar to that is supposed to have blanketed most of Indiana.
What's really great:
At the Donaldson Woods.
The perfect time to be at the Park is in Spring. We happend to visit at Fall but we still truly enjoyed the natural beauty and everything that this park had to offer.
