GO TO THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING My dear ritual...as soon as I've arrived and settled in my hotel...off I go up to admire the view from the 86th floor observatory, 1,050 feet (320 meters), shown on the picture above! Since the Observatory opened to the public in 1931, almost 100 million visitors have thrilled to the awe-inspiring vision of the City beneath them. Each year over 3.5 million people are whisked to the 86 th floor to be where Cary Grant waited in vain for Deborah Kerr in an 'Affair to Remember', while Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan had their fateful meeting in the movie 'Sleepless in Seattle'. TOWER LIGHTS To find out more about lights that colors the Empire State Building: www.esbnyc.com GO DOWN TOWN BY BUS I had a thrilling experience taking NY bus. First of all they are -kneeling- towards you when boarding -quite amusing! Then you must have the exact amount of cash which is thrown into a metallic basket!

Favourite spots:

TOP OF THE WORLD - The World Trade Center (which Twin Towers does not exist any longer!) Go to the glass-enclosed observatory on the 107th floor, or on the world's highest open-air deck 110 stories high.

What's really great:

I did in the early 80s' and I have never felt so unsecure - my knees were like jelly and it was very difficult for me to move. I wanted to go back as soon as possible but I realised I have to walk half the tower to reach the exit - only one way out! I'm glad I found the courage to go there and be at THE TOP OF THE WORLD as this open-air deck was very often closed due strong winds. ---------------------------------- I'm not really enthusiastic about 'junk food' except when I'm in the States! So come to me hamburgers, pizzas and shakes. There are plenty of different fast-food places to choose from: Mac Donald's, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Wendy's, Del taco Chinese Take-Aways and so on... One of my fondest memory was to eat a huge bucket (the largest size...LOL!!) of pop-corn with melted butter on top while seeing a film!

Sights:

ROCKEFELLER CENTER
This is the famous -Ice Skating Rink-
At the back there is the golden statue of Prometheus as well as all nations flags.
There are 488 elevators in Rockefeller Center.
It is home to many shops, Radio City Music Hall, NBC where popular shows like Saturday Night Live, Late Night With Conan O'Brien and NBC News are taped.

Accommodations:

GRAND HYATT HOTEL
It is a superior first class, dramatic, 35 story hotel with mirrored facade and dazzling atrium lobby complete with waterfall, located adjacent to Grand Central Station at Park Avenue and Forty-Second Street
It's easy to arrive from the airport by New York Airport Service. The station is almost opposite the hotel at:
Addr: Grand central - 125 Park Avenue (between 41st. & 42nd Street)
But what it comes to rooms, there could be a bit more to expect after the splendour of the lobby!
Only recommended for it's excellent location and morning breakfast!!

Behind the hotel is the awesome Chrystler Building

Nightlife:

HARD ROCK CAFE
Address: 221 West 57th St.- New York, NY 10019
Favorite Dish: I always end up with HRC'S FAMOUS GRILLED FAJITAS.
It's grilled chicken breast, beef or fresh veggies served with pico de gallo, shredded Jack and cheddar cheese, fresh guacamole, sour cream, shredded lettuce and hot tortillas

Hangouts:
