All you need is a backpack and good walking shoes.

This past November I attended a family wedding in Manhattan... even though I was a bridesmaid and in the middle of all the 'hectic chaos' of the wedding... I had a full day to explore as much of NYC as I could.
All I had with me was my backpack, some money, and my cd player... I figured I only had one day to enjoy the city so I took advantage of it. Before I started I printed out a map of the island (w/ subway lanes as well)... there were a few things I wanted to see: Central Park, Ground Zero , and of course Columbia University's library (yes, I'm a little bit of a dork, but oh well..)... I spent the whole day going to all these places I've always dreamed of seeing. All I can say is that I am quite glad that I wore a good pair of walking shoes.
Favourite spots:
I HIGHLY recommend a little tea place downtown called Teany. Its a bit small but it has a comfy atmosphere and good tea and vegan snacks. I also recommend Columbia Uni's library.... its fun to just people watch and think about all the brain power youre surrounded with.
What's really great:
I especially liked central park in the morning. Its fun to watch people on their commute to work. Everything is so hectic and fast paced, but once you get to the park, everything slows down and is very relaxing.
