One of the unique cities in the southeastern area of the United States is Savannah, Georgia. Little did James Oglethorpe realize the great city that he founded. A visit to Savannah will bring you into a divine historical area, regardless what you do or what area of the city you decide to visit. There is a beach area on Tybee Island, although the water is not the most attractive in that area of the country.

I strongly recommend that you visit River Street. There are activities and shops in this historic area that will keep one busy. It is really difficult to resist stopping in to visit one of the two candy kitchens on River Street, since you can smell the sweet aroma of freshly-made candy everywhere you go.

One of the most enjoyable activities in Savannah is celebrating St. Patrick's Day. Savannah is the site of the second largest St. Patrick's Day parades in the United States. Before and after the parade, you should visit Kevin Barry's, an Irish restaurant/pub. Traditional Irish fol music is presented on a nightly basis. Try to visit when Harry O'Donohue is in town. He is the best!
