Singapore is a small island off the southern tip of Malaysia. It is a modern westernised Asian city with tall skyscrapers. Lots of excellent food and shopping and all very cheap. The public transport is efficient and cheap, and the city is very clean and safe.

Night Safari at the Singapore Zoo, hawker centres (cheap, smelly food stalls with amazing food),
What's really great:
The food. The night safari is amazing - just wander around through the zoo and look over the fence at the animals at night.
Accommodations:
Accommodation is expensive and the few remaining hostels are constantly full. Caters mostly to rich traveller rather than backpackers.
Restaurants:
The food is amazing - the hawker centres and the food markets are very worth a visit - they are smelly, cheap and excellent!
