Vancouver visit

A couple of corrections from the posted report on Vancouver. It's very well written and gives out a lot of information about the city of Vancouver. Downtown Vancouver is easy to see on foot and at the end of most streets is a beach.

The building shown in the photos of Vancouver i.e Vancouver Courthouse is actually the Vancouver Art Gallery. The Vancouver Courthouse moved to a new building over 20 years ago on the Downtown Eastside. The Vancouver Art Gallery then took over the building. I believe admission is by donation from 5:00pm to 9:00pm Tuesday evenings. The New Westminster Courthouse is the place where the Willie Pickton trial is being held. This is accessible by taking the Sky Train to New Westminster.

Favourite spots:
Queen Elizabeth Gardens in the spring are delightful and for a special place visit the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Chinese Gardens in China Town. It's a peaceful haven in the middle of a busy area. The Robson Street Courthouse is a spectacular place to visit and it's right off the main Robson Street Shopping Centre.

What's really great:
The walk along Ambleside Beach which lies on the left hand side after you cross the Lions Gate Bridge. You can walk for miles along the pathway and see lots of interesting sights on the way. There are many very good restaurants in West Vancouver these days. If you want a birds eye view of the city you can go up in a small plane. There are several options available. Ask at the Tourist Office for full details of these trips. You can go along the coast or simply over the mounains to see the lakes and glaciers.

Sights:
A ride around Stanley Park is always a treat even though the
storm has left some amazing sights.
A ride on the Seabus from Vancouver to North Vancouver
A ride out to Horshoe Bay through West Vancouver with
amazing views of the sea.
A trip up the beautiful Howe Sound
A trip up to the University of British Columbia and the
Anthropology Museum and Nitobe Japanese Gardens

Accommodations:
Renaissance Hotel
Hotel Vancouver

Restaurants:
Boathouse Restaurant at English Bay
Bistro at the Sylvia Hotel, English Bay
Vistas Revolving Restaurant at the Hotel Renaissance
Samba Brasilian Steak House on Alberni Street

Other recommendations:
Walk along the beach at Kitsilano
Walk along the beach at English Bay
Watch the Kite Flyers at the Vancouver Planetarium Park
