I definitely travel on a shoestring. It's one of the best ways to get to know a country. Sweetness in the tough going. So excited to hear that you're going to Cuba. I wish I could have gone for their carnival in mid July to 7/26. Maybe I'll go next year. I know it well as I am a priest os Santeria, which is something you will definately encounter in Cuba. It is not an easy trip, I must warn you. The government does not like tourists mingling with the locals. They can get in big trouble. Guest houses run about 20-25 bucks a night and include breakfast. Check into Divermex, they can help you with your flight and they have links for hotels. A working knowledge of Spanish is essential.
