I plan to backpack in Peru and Ecuador coming August, and am looking for a travel partner. I want to do the Inca trail and a bit of jungle exploration, but would be up for anything else that's exciting, enriching or both. Do send me email (swaratc@yahoo.com) if you would like to start a conversation.

Well!

I'm going to Peru too.

I will go on June-July only for 25 days to visit as much as i can from there.

Lima-Cuzco-Machupichu and the Inca Trail-Puno and the Titicaca Lake-Arequipa-Nazca-Ica-Lima Fly to Iquitos-explore the Amazones-back to Lima and fly back home.

I will go there, more or less, the 17-18 June aprox to have the chance of see the Inti Ramni on June 24.

Happy and great adventures!

Hi Peter Pan!

Well! I'm now planning the journey, I've never been there so i can't give you a really helpful advices.

I found one accomodation in Lima that seems to be good:

Hotel EspaƱa

6 usd$ for a single room with shared bathroom - Pick up at the airport, internet etc...

I Could serach there and go by my own from the airport but this time I only have the 25 days hollydays that my manager gave me!! ;(

I think i would give better advices when i will come back home. ;)

Ayway, a part of Lima, I will look for accomodation everywhere when arriving with the ever helpful travel guide book!!

Dani!

Ops!

And I will try to just take 3 internal flights.

Lima-Cuzco

Lima-Iquitos-Lima

And i'm a little worried about the bus ride between Arequipa and Nazca!!

It seems to be so long!!

Maybe as the Hanoi(Vietnam) - Vientiane(Laos) that I did some months ago ... 24 hours!!!!!

aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dani!

Hi guys,

Lucky you I'm jealous.

In Aguas Calientes near Machu Picchu don't forget La Cabana Hostel, we only paid $8US for a double but it was in an off peak time, you will be there pretty much on peak season.

If you are doing the Inca Trail remember it is going to be freezing especially at night take your woollies, not my cup of tea. Try to plan it so you have more than a day at the ruins at the end as you normally arrive at sunrise through the sungate and then leave that afternoon.

Don't arrange to spend too much time in Lima the real action is outside the capital. Stay near the old centre. Virtually all hostels offer a pickup at the airport but you will find that you have to pay to get back there.

At the airport remember to pay for your internal departure tax(from memory about $4) prior to checkin as you will have to requeue, this is for every flight and it is much more for International departures.

Happy travels.

Kerrie

Peterpan,

No, I haven't planned in too much detail yet, mainly because I am not sure if I will have a travel partner in the end. Though I think I want to see Machu Picchu and do some jungle exploration. Perhaps Titicaca, as well?

What about you? Pan Americana sounds exciting, lovely...

I have recently watched a documentory on the Pan Americana which made me definatelly want to see it. Like I said, maybe just part of it. Not sure if a friend comes with me, because of the longer term.

Thank you Kerrie for your recommendations. I love your pictures about Peru. Most of the pix about this country on globosapiens.net are from you, aren't they?? I am getting really excited while looking on those!

Thanks, Kerrie. Peterpan, what exactly are your plans for Pan Americana? I would be interested in a road trip if it doesn't take too long, and if you are also going in August. Feel free to send me email, if you want.
