I am about to embark on a trip through China, Mongolia and Russia for a month, then on through Scandinavia for another mmonth. I am taking my digital camera (Ixus II). I currently have a 256 MB, 128 MB SD card and a 128 MB USB key (it's supposed to be for work but.. who cares! :) I can probably get my hands on another couple of SD cards owned by a friend and I am just wondering if there would likely be Internet cafes along the way I can use to upload my pictures from or photo/camera stores which could burn them to CD. Anyone had any experience in doing this? I haven't travelled with my digital camera for any length of time before so it's never been a problem before. I like to configure my camera for maximum resolution too.

I wonder if you got any progress with your query. I have a similar question - I want to take a digital camera on a 5-month RTW trip, and upload pictures to my website from Internet cafes, but don't want to heave a laptop around. However I suspect I won't be able to connect my camera directly to the USB port on the average Internet cafe computer, because it won't have the right driver for my Sony camera. I wonder if the Internet cafe would let me install the driver first from a CD?

Hi,

most likely no internet cafes will allow you to install your drivers. But that's just the bad news.

When you go to internetcafes, many of them might have Apple Computers in stead of the regular PC's. And if those Mac's are 'quite' recent, they should work with your cam. Just plug it in, turn it on and the Mac will start iPhoto from itself (this is the standard of course, the internet cafe administrator could always have changed this...). iPhoto will automatically ask you to upload your pictures or not. It's so easy even my dog could do it (if I would have one).

So watch out for the cafes with Apple Computers (www.apple.com)

Greetings
