Member opinion: Pskov is a lovely historical town near the border with Estonia. I made a full day stop during my train journey from Novgorod to Tallinn and visited, apart from the beautiful Kremlin and the cathedral, this interesting monastery with its XII century frescoes, which is under the list of Patrimonies of the Humankind by the UNESCO.
The main wonders of Mirozhsky Monastery are the well preserved frescoes painted by Greek artists.
(If you are interested in icons and frescoes art, I strongly recommend you to see Andrei Tarkovski film “Andrei Rublev”).
