Hi there! Welcome to my travel log. Usually, I don't take notes or keep a journal on my trips and travels. I rely completely on photos as they are self explanatory and are the best memory log. I hope you will enjoy them.

May 14, 2003 06:00 PM Rozmberk and Ponds in Trebonsko

Rozmberk and Ponds in Trebonsko Trebonsko basin is famed for being the the home of largest man made lakes in the south bohemian region . Built in the 16th Century, it has given the people in nearby villages the source for water and for fish farming. This photo was taken at the banks of the Rozmberk lakes.

May 14, 2003 06:00 PM Fields of Kojakovice

Fields of Kojakovice After a visit to the Pheasant museum, we trackked around this almost abandoned village. Once a thriving farming village, has now become almost a ghost town. All the young people of moved away into cities in search of jobs and more opportunities. Only the old folks remain in their homes. In recent years, an effort to bring back the young crowd was started by a society. Young people are encouraged to build new homes as holiday getaways from their city life. A few new houses are being constructed and add new variety to the area.

May 14, 2003 06:00 PM Trekking the Trebonsko Trails

Trekking the Trebonsko Trails The trail to trebonsko begins in Trebon. Here is a photo of Trebon Chateau from the main entrance. Třeboň Chateau, is a market settlement that was founded on the trade route between Hungary and Bavaria nearly 8 centuries ago. Then the settlement was bought by the Rožmberks, who founded a monastery here and raised the status of the original settlement to a town of importance, which quickly flourished. The town and castle were fortified by stone walls and three gates.

May 14, 2003 06:00 PM Trebon Chateau - Garden

Trebon Chateau - Garden This view of the south side of the chateau is taken from the garden close to the exit. There are several exotic flowers planted here and they are slowly blooming in the mild summer weather (May). Some parts of the chateau seemed a little ruined, probably during the last snow storm. The castle is a little raised from the grounds of the manmade lakes.

May 14, 2003 06:00 PM Hiking nature trails and "Around Trebon" Cyling Route

Hiking nature trails and There are three nature trails for hikers in the Trebon. All of them are equipped with explanatory text in Czech, English and German language, to help visitors appreciate the history and cultures in these settlements. The cycling nature trail is 39 kilometres long with 22 stops. Guides take us along the trail explaining the most typical features of the Trebon Basin. This trail is one of the most beautiful I've seen with these hundred year old oak trees encroaching all along the way for almost 3 kilometres.

May 13, 2003 06:00 PM Cesky Krumlov Mansion Garden

Cesky Krumlov Mansion Garden After hiking about 20 minutes from the foot hill entrance we finally arrived at the Mansion Garden where the Cascade fountain is located. Not very far from this fountain lies the revolving auditorium where public performances are staged daily.

May 13, 2003 06:00 PM Signs left by 2002 Flood

Signs left by 2002 Flood In 2002 there was a massive flood that hit the eastern european countries, both Czech and Germany, basically routes that were damaged badly were where great and powerful rivers flow. The Vltava river as the Elbe River in Dresden cuts through serveral villages and cities. It can be seen here that the water level was well over two metres above the canal when the flood occured.

May 13, 2003 06:00 PM Souvenirs from Cesky Krumlov

Souvenirs from Cesky Krumlov One of the best things that I bought here are the South Bohemian crystals. They were so cheap that I went crazy, spending hundreds of Euros over fine hand crafted crystals. Anywhere else in the world it would cost twice or even three times the price. I also bought myself a porcelain puppet after watching this girl playing with this little red devil. The one I bought is a princess with a golden gown and with glass slippers.

May 13, 2003 06:00 PM Breath-taking panorama of Cesky Krumlov.

Breath-taking panorama of Cesky Krumlov. It is amazing to see this heritage site so well preserved almost untouched by the passage of time. I was simply stunned by the beauty of this panorama, taken just next to the Museum of Antiquities.

May 13, 2003 06:00 PM Friends in Mansion Garden

Friends in Mansion Garden Here Luis, Janet and Nicole stand together to pose in the Mansion Garden. Unfortunately, the flowers have not bloomed as it is still early summer. We could only at the most imagine what it would be like when everything is in full bloom.
