Mar 26, 2015 10:00 PM Rice Terrances of the Philippines

Rice Terrances of the Philippines A 10 hour overnight bus ride from Manila is Banaue home of the first rice terraces. Its not an easy journey to get there but it is really worthwhile. The area is beautiful. The area can be cooler then Manila and this makes perfect temperature for rice.

Mar 25, 2015 10:00 PM Living the highlife

Living the highlife Enroute with a stop off in Singapore, I saw this hotel five years ago and really wanted to stay there. It was nice seeing it built and then completed.

Mar 25, 2015 10:00 PM Kuwait City - maybe next time

Kuwait City - maybe next time I've always wanted to go to Kuwait City, as my interest was peaked following the invasion by Iraq back in the 1990/91.
But I was a little disappointed with my experience in some of the middle eastern countries that I shortened my trip. Maybe another time I will try and to see more of this interesting city.

Mar 24, 2015 10:00 PM Miles and miles and miles and miles to Colombo

Miles and miles and miles and miles to Colombo It felt like I would never make it to Colombo as the hundred and something kilometers that I had to cover tool about four hours. And driving on these roads is a little scary. The amount of tutus and motor bikes is frightening. If only the roads were built with a hard shoulder things would have been simpler. But thankfully I made it to Colombo without any disasters but a few scary incidents.

Mar 23, 2015 10:00 PM Tea plantation in Sri Lanka

Tea plantation in Sri Lanka I'm not sure if I'm sad or just clueless but I really enjoyed going to a tea plantation in Sri Lanka. Not that it makes my life any better, but listening to how it is picked and process was interesting, and I thought it was amazing that from one plant they can create so many varieties of tea. I personally like the white tea. But man, is it expensive! Who knew one could spend so much on tea.

Mar 22, 2015 10:00 PM Slumming it in Kandy one of the old capitals of Sri Lanka

Slumming it in Kandy one of the old capitals of Sri Lanka The weather is so hot in Sri lanka. It has taken me by surprise. Yesterday I was in the jungle and omg I thought I was going to pass out. It didn't help that I chose to ride a bike during the heat of the day. What do they say 'mad dogs and Englishman '. But it was a great day. I do feel templed out. But an incredible city. The history is amazing.

Mar 20, 2015 10:00 PM Island hopping - Maldives

Island hopping - Maldives I hear ba will be stopping its route to the Maldives and Sri lanka as of the 30th, not sure if that is truthful that is but my flight out was great. They crew was very happy and friendly. And some how it didn't feel too long. My flight was at 18.30and by the time I had dinner I was ready to sleep. It was nice to be able to lie down and sleep so the flight went really quickly. By morning we were about to land in the Maldives. From the air it looks so pristine and really is but if u. I saw a lot of sea planes and wished that was were my journey would take me. Oh well.

Mar 19, 2015 10:00 PM Gatwick here I come

Gatwick here I come So much for Easter Island im heading off to Sri lanka. This was a bit of a shock but just have to run with it. I didn't have any time to do some research but here's hoping that things work themselves out.

Jan 20, 2015 10:00 PM Pondering 2015

Pondering 2015 At the beginning of the year, I always wonder what my travel year will be like. I make all sorts of plans of what I'd like to do but by the end of the year they were only dreams.
2014 didn't see many new locations, although I found myself in Jersey, South and North Korea and Qatar. I was also able to go to places where I'd been before - Italy, Holy See, New York. But what was fantastic was I able to see places that I thought I'd never get to see ie Pompeii, Sorrento and so 2015 may see the same strategy applied.
My goal will to be to go to the following: Malta, Chile and Ecuador; and go to Crete, Santorini, Ephesus and if I'm lucky back to New York in December for some shopping.
Here's hoping that this isn't just pipe dreams.

Apr 25, 2014 08:00 PM Homeward bound via Kuwait

Homeward bound via Kuwait So the journey has finally come to an end. And there has been so many ups and downs. The final stop is Kuwait and I'm not sure I can deal these attitudes. I find myself sat next to a bigot, bully and the lowest form. But such is life when you travel.
