The flight was long but the reward was one wonderful first day. You don’t have to worry about our safety, the country has strict punishment for drug, theft and crime. Caught with drugs, you hang. The result is a clean environment that allows tourism and industry to thrive. The city is built in the middle of a rain forest. We experienced a rain downpour that interrupted our evening wildlife show – Creatures of the Night. Allie has tried all sorts of food, some that are green! We rode a cable car from Mt. Faber (the highest point in Singapore) to Sentosa Island (the Southernmost point of Asia). It is a resort island in the middle of a shipping port. There we learned some of the history of Singapore and its establishment as a world trade center. In the 1300’s 4 business men from the four winds of the world decided to bring together a trade center between India, China, Europe and Africa. The museum was the actual 1700’s building that the Four Winds Trading Company conducted business. With the British influence a large port was built and English became the language. We walked along the beaches and took pictures in front of the sign that says, “The furthest most spot of Asia”. Look forward to visit China Town tomorrow. Talk to you then.

Today Pat is finalizing our travel plans for March 13 thru 27. We will be traveling to Singapore, Indonesia & Japan. Two of our grandchildren will accompany us, Allison 17 and Clinton 16. Clinton has a friend, Kain 17, that will also travel with us to Singapore then he and Clinton will spend a week with Kain's aunt & uncle who live in Singapore and work for Monsanto Company. While they are golfing and touring, Allison, Pat & I will be siteseeing Singapore, traveling to the Indonesian resort island of Bintan and lounging on the beach.
