Sorry for the long delay before posting anything but getting computer access that is reasonably fast is a little tricky. I don't have much time now but thought I would post a little something before everyone forgets about me.
I flew into Johannesburg and unfortunately did not have time to see the city, I may try and fit that in later. The day after I arrived I went on a 7 day tour that went through Kruger National Park, Swaziland and Zululand. We did game drives through Kruger and saw many animals but unfortunately did not see the elusive lion. I hope to see them in Namibia and/or Tanzania. It is really something to be driving along and see an elephant the way we would normally be surprised to see a deer.
When seeing animals in the wild you get a better perspective of their temperments. I was surprised to see that giraffes are curious, hippos are indignant and elephants feign indifference but know they are majestic. And warthogs...they are so cute and always in a hurry.
When I have more time I will try and post some pictures.
SA is now having a cold and rainy spell and I didn't bring too many clothes for cold weather. Everyone is surprised that I am cold when they learn I am from Chicago but in Chicago I have sweaters and hats and gloves...I wish I had them here.
