I bought a 15 day fly around India fare from Jet Airways. It cost me $700.00 USD
Delhi is the capital city of the Federal Republic of India. It is one of India’s fastest growing cities.

The city is on over both sides of the Yamuna river.
There are has distinct parts of the city, Old Delhi & New Delhi. Delhi is the second most widely used entry point into the country, being on the route of most major airlines.
Although Delhi is a commercial hub it has many tourist attractions.
I was mossing down a street with so many people I almost got pushed in front of a car. I'm very tall and all of a sudden I saw the ramparts of the Red Fort. Most of it was demolished by the British Raj.
Lodi Gardens are very well groomed gardens. The are domed tombs of Sayyid and Lodi rulers. This garden is known for its fountains, ponds, flowering trees, blossoming shrubs and artificial streams.
These gardens are great for joggers and fast walkers and also for people who want to meditate.

The pricey shops are in a mall called Connaught Place.
I went Delhi Haat to buy some handcrafts and eat some pretty decent food in the food court.
I visited the Qutub Minar to see the Mughal architecture. I thought Rashtrapati Bhawan was great for seeing the monuments made during British era.
The Mughal Garden are located on the grounds of the Rashtrapati Bhavan is the official residence of the President of India. The building and gardens designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens span an area of about 320 acres that include flowering shrubs and European flowerbeds. The gardens comprise of the Rectangular Garden, Long Garden and the Circular Garden. The gardens are open to the public from February to March every year.
Shalimar Garden is one of the most important Mughul gardens in the city. The Shalimar Garden, which lies in the suburbs of the city, was once the first-night staging post for the Mughuls on their way to Kashmir and Lahore. In 1658, Aurangzeb was crowned emperor here.

The Indian Gate was built as a memorial to honor the Indian soldiers that were killed in the Afghan War.
The Rashtrapati Bhawan at one time was the Imperial residence of the British Viceroys.
National Zoological Park is close to Purana Qila, near ITO, was established in 1959 and is spread over an area of 214 acres. Is regarded as one of the finest zoos in Asia and efforts have been made to provide an almost natural habitat to the animals and birds. There are more than 2,000 animals and bird species from places like Africa, America, Australia and even Asia.
Nehru Park is opposite the Ahoka Hotel & at one end of the diplomatic area. It is a popular place for many cultural & classical music functions. It is spread over an area of 85 acres landscaped. Popular picnic spot.
Appu Ghar is India’s 1st amusement park. I found it in Pragati Maidan. It opened in November, 1984, by the then Prime Minister, Late Sh. Rajiv Gandhi.

On the bank of the Yamuna there I found Raj Ghat the last resting place of Mahatma Gandhi, (called the father of the India). The Nehru Memorial Museum and the Indira Memorial Museum are both here.
Shankar’s International Dolls Museum was founded in 1954. More than 6000 Variety of dolls that represent about 85 countries of the World are on display in the museum.
The National science museum is next to the Pragati maidan. It is a great place for both kids & adults to learn and discover mysteries of life through science.

The Hotel Ashok is location in the center of the city. It has 550 rooms.
The exterior has rose pink walls and the arches and turrets set it apart from the buildings around it.
When I arrived at my room there was a fruit basket on the table. Each night there were complimentary cookies, (wrapped), on my pillow.
The bed linen was crisp and cool because the room had air conditioning. I was happy that the bathroom had a light over mirror for shaving.
* I ate here a lot so look under the places I ate.

The Markets are open at night.
I went shopping at the Haus Khas Village, Connaught Place and Chandni Chowk. I bought a carpet at Chandni Chowk and had it sent home.
I was walking through the small street in north Delhi. I was looking at buildings over a 100 years old. I walk into the Market of Thieves, (Chor Bazaar). I found a large selection of carpets, silks, jewelry, leather, silver ware, handicrafts and hand printed cotton here. Who doesn't need some extra cotton briefs so I bough 10!
There are no street light here so I stayed on the main streets and went to a few bars there.

Laxmi Narayan Temple is also called the Birla Mandir. It has a large garden and some fountains.
If you are looking for spiritual peace visit the Bahai’s Temple, (the Lotus Temple) in South Delhi. It is also famous for its marvelous architecture.

There were so many places to eat at my hotel that I was running short of cash and wanted to use my credit card.
At the hotel I ate at the I had breakfast in the coffee shop, had a buffet lunch at the Durban, had Bar-b-cue at the Frontier, ate Sichuan food at China Town, (I could have had Beijing, Hunan, Vegitaria or Cantonese food here), ate middle eastern food at the "Mashrabiya Restaurant" while I watch some belly dancers dance. High Tea was fabulous at the "Tea Lounge". I ate lunch at the "Sagar Ratna" that only serves vegetarian food, the Korean food was great at the "Kum-Gang". The "Ssteel" bar was like a pub. I dance every night at the "Capital". Before I went to my room I bought some pastry at the "Cake Shop".
"Connaught Place Restaurant" was very expensive. You get what you pay for and the meal was delicious.
I also had a drink at the "Shalom", "Olive Bar" and "Punjabi By Nature".
Fashion Bar in south Delhi makes great drinks.

Don't drink the water or use ice in your drinks.
Don't go to places that aren't safe.
