Tunis travel tips

The old Medina
An excellent experience in Tunis; now deemed a UNESCO World Heritage site so it is as good as a museum. The area dates back to the 7th century and remained the commercial centre until Tunisia became a French Protectorate in 1881. Wondering through the narrow passageways and haggling for souvenirs is an experience not to be missed - well at least once. more

Restaurant Le Caire
This is an awesome local resturant.. it specializes in Sfax cuisine and especially in fish. The place is jam packed at lunch and dinner with locals the food is delicious, well prepared and to die for. The place is basic and to look at the servers clothes sanitation is questionable but once you taste the food, look at all the certificates on the wall from various celebs and presidents and other pretigious places praising this restaurant you won't really care. truely a good place to eat. more

Bardo Museum

If you have a chance find this place in the Medina. It has a huge collection of Original Tunisian Art and other unique items. It is not your regular souk of tacky souviners. Very different souk. more

Cyber Internet
like everywhere in Africa this internet is slow in comparison to what I'm used to but it's the fastest connection I found so far in Tunis. It's 1 block past rue Caire where the famous Sfax restaurant is. more
