Kampala, the capital of Uganda, is a very busy and a large place. It is not one of the prettiest capital cities of Africa and has few interesting spots. The city centre is pretty well developed with banks, office blocks and a few promising places to have something to eat. And then, there is the central bus station, so beautifully chaotic in its all African style. Kampala has a few good accommodation options, the best one is the Backpackers Hostel, where one can organise trips around the country and team up with other travellers, including trekking with the Mountain Gorillas in all three countries; Uganda, Rwanda and Zaire (DRC).
