Belfast is the capital city of Northern Ireland which is part of the United Kingdom. The name is an anglicised version of the Irish Béal Feirste, which translates as "Mouth of the Farset" which is the river where the city sits.
The city centre is very typical with lots of shopping opportunities but with an Irish flare. The most prominent building is the City Hall but a few other sites will include: Albert Memorial Clock Tower, Belfast Castle, Laganside Walk, Queen’s University, Titanic Shipyard, Botanic Gardens, Belfast Big Wheel, St Annes Cathedral, Milltown Cemetery and the Crown Bar.
The city is also known by its yellow cranes ‘Samson & Goliath’ that sits in the shipyard. The infamous Harland and Wolff are known as the shipbuilders that built the Titanic and sister ship Olympic which was owned by White Star Line.
On a Sunday morning it is amazing to see all around the city people going to church and unlike England Sunday trade starts at 1pm. [edit text][editors]
