The small city Galveston was once Texas's largest port, still port to cruisers but now more importantly a historical place. Only some of the old houses survived a bad hurricane in 1900. A visit to Galveston makes a wonderfull day trip from Houston. Connected by a causeway from the continent, making a crossing to Galveston Island is somewhat like going back in time and space.
Galveston needs a few days of attention, firstly the historic city and harbour, secondly a good full day on the beach, and perhaps a whole day at airconditioned "Moody Gardens" to explore the GLOBE! [edit text][editors]
