Hangzhou- Right Out of a Kungfu Movie

One of my favorite cities in China- other than Beijing, Hong Kong, and Lhasa was Hangzhou. Beautiful lake, great weather and the tea fields are incredible.

Hangzhou is one of the cities apart of the grand canal that runs through China, originally built to bring rice up to the northen, more barren parts of China- specifically the capital Beijing. The west lake is beautiful at all times of day and in all weather. The tea fields are mystical and amazing, they remind you of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and the Buddhist temple is pretty neat. All the western comforts plus great cultural sites.

Favourite spots:
The Lake
The Lake
This restaurant next door to our hotel that had a set dinner hamburger, soup, french fries and drink special for 50rmb. Best hamburger I've had in China. And, the tea fields that I keep mentioned. It's where they grow/make Dragon Well Tea, a green tea that is still hand churned. Quite good. West Lake has paths you can follow around and sometimes through portions of the lake, there is never a bad time to see that. Plus, there was a starbucks and a haagen daaz right next door to each other down the street from our hotel. You can't really beat that package.

What's really great:
Tea Kung Fu Masteres
Tea Kung Fu Masteres
The tea fields were the best, we watched kung fu tea pouring masters. I'm not kidding, they combined the art of pouring tea with the ancient art of kung fu. It was pretty bad ass.

Sights:

There is a market in Hangzhou that your normal tourist lot and a pretty good snack street. You can visit a museum of chinese medicine at this market too.

Accommodations:
We had a hotel that was overlooking west lake. Unfortunately, I don't pay attention to names since my program does all of the booking work for us. But, it was really nice, comfortable and convenient. It was amazing to walk from the hotel every morning to see the lake smiling back at me.
