Hong Kong travelogue picture
What a place!!! I absolutely loved the City. Everywhere you go you can smell the smell of coconut oil. The food was out of this world and the people so funny to watch. I could have easily spent longer than the 4 days i had here. This was my first taste of the Far East and can quite safely say I will be back.

Favourite spots:
Stanley Market Floating Village Jumbo Floating Restaurant Happy Valley Race Course Victoria Peak (Day and Night) Star Ferry Museum of Hong Kong The Suit Tailor shops

What's really great:

I especially enjoyed our trip around Stanley Market. Thoroughly enjoyed haggling with the shop keepers for the many souvenirs we picked up. Also enjoyed sitting and watching my partner Joanna having her suit measured up and made right before our eyes in the space of several hours. The boat trip we took around the floating village was so interesting. It was amazing to think that people actually lived on these boats. The main highlight has to be going across to Hong Kong Island on the Star Ferry. The cost is about 20pence and is absolutely fantastic. Once over there make your way to the Train that will whisk you up the Mountain side to Victoria Peak where you can enjoy superb panoramic views of Hong Kong and Kowloon. If going at night it is again, fantastic

Accommodations:
Stanford Hillview. Lovely Hotel with very friendly and accomodating staff. The rooms were very spacious and modern. Was nice to rest here after a 13 hour flight from UK. Only trouble is the walk up the hill to the Hotel as is very steep. Though for it's location it i very, very good value for money.

Restaurants:
The list is endless. If you like chinese food it is paradise. For those of you who don't there are the McDonalds dotted around that will help out.

Other recommendations:
Nathan Road area is great for purchasing Camera's Sunglasses and other electrical goods at a highly discounted price. Knock the staff down a bit though.
