Member opinion: The best thing about this hostel is its' prime location in the center of downtown Washington, and its' close proximity to many sights/monuments. It is in a safe area and is quite close to the White House, as well as several art museums/galleries and also only about 4 blocks from Metro Center (especially ideal for people flying into Reagan Int. Airport- it was very quick and easy to get to the hostel from the airport). Aside from that, the rooms were adequate and clean. My only complaint about the room is that the AC unit did not work all that well (probably because it was so old). Additionally, they offer many free tours at the hostel (although I didn't have the time to take advantage of them). Some annoyances were that the room keys frequently stopped working, as well as the elevator that was ridiculously slow and unreliable (one person even got stuck in it when I was there). Also, they overcharge for the internet ($6/hr), and I found the staff to be rather rude.
