Colonial Williamsburg, the nation's oldest and largest living history museum, is dedicated to preserving America's revolutionary ideals and its community of the 1770s - the years in which the colony took its first steps toward becoming a new nation. Daily life is re-created within the 173 acres of the Historic Area, in which 88 original 18th-century buildings stand beside many structures rebuilt on original foundations. Year after year, visitors come to experience these stately public buildings, charming homes, and glorious gardens.
