Livingstone travel tips

River Boats of the Zambezi
Departing from the Waterfront this is a wonderful booze cruise. For $25 we got a barbaque dinner with all the drink we could hold in the 3hr cruise. On board the MV Makumbi we had a wonderful evening and saw lots of wildlife inc hipps, crocs birds etc. Really enjoyable more

Safari Par Excellence
If you have a death wish, then you should try rafting down the Great Zambezi River. This was an incredible day starting with breakfast, then the briefing (which should really come with a health warning). Down to the boiling point before rafting all 24 rapids followed by dinner. I must admit it was an incredible rush, but I nearly died twice and drunk enough water to fill a swimming pool. For about $130. more

The Zambezi Waterfront
After being on the road for nearly 19 days staying at the Waterfront was a welcome break. They offer various standards of accommodations from camping, to permanent tents, or chalets etc. I stayed in one of the many camping grounds and found it very pleasant, if not the best camp site I visited on my journey. The facilities were good even though first thing in the morning there was never any toilet paper in the bathrooms; but the staff were prompt to replace them. They had a nice bar and restaurant area shaded by trees right at the water’s edge; also the cleanest swimming pool I'd seen since entering rural Africa. more

Ryte Pub & Grill
One of the best places to eat and drink in central Livingstone. The place is just opposite the main post office. The food costs less than $10 and is delicious. It offers the best full English breakfast on this side of the river and their fried chicken is wonderful. Waiting staff is friendly and the choice of drinks is more than satisfactory. It has a wonderful atmosphere and sees many clients. more
