Campos Gerais is the name of the region situated in the second plateau of Paraná state, southern Brazil. From the capital of the state, Curitiba, to the beggining of the second plateau, just after we reach the top of the sierra, we are about just 40 kilometers.
The ground is shallow, arenose, not much fertile, and this combination is good to propitiate the formation of fields, meadows, so the denomination of "Campos Gerais" or vast grasslands between the plains.
The situation of good fields and many water in the region propitiate important use of the Campos Gerais to the cattle drivers from the century XVIII to the XX. So the local culture and customs or practices are today still influenced by that cattle drivers.
Despite its shallow land, the region produces today, and mainly, soy-bean and corn, beside livestock.
This pictures were taken from the beggining of the second plateau, in just a little part of this beautiful region. Most of them were taken in Tamanduá, a place nearby São Luiz do Purunã.
In this slide show you will see some pictures of landscapes, cows, waterfalls, rivers, lakes, fruits, flowers, railroad, sunsets, daily life, cowboy and their used gear, soy bean, rainbow, local houses, roads, typical araucaria trees and its cones, etc...
I hope you will enjoy to see it, while I will keep capturing the "Campos Gerais" scenery to show you.
Regards from Campos Gerais,
