Chicago, My kind of city

  11 votes
Thanks Art for spending your hard earned miles to take me there for my graduation. This was one of the best trips I've ever had. I loved the feel of the city.

Ok, so I went to Chicago in June after I graduated from Arizona State University, and it was and it was COLD. Other than that the people were very friendly, it was clean, and i felt safe walking around seeing the sites. Let me start off by saying that I'm an Arizona Diamondback fan, and get a bit angry when they have home games against the Cubs. And that's only because there are soooo many of them down in AZ.

But you can't let that get to you. They are some of the nicest people to watch a game with since they are used to losing so much. So i started off the day with catching a Cubs game at Wrigley field. It was a pretty good game. Cubs were down most of the game until Derek Lee hit a walk off HR. I must say I'm spoiled with having a reletively new ballpark. Wrigley Field is a dump, but it does have a nice feeling just being there in such a historic park.

I hit up downtown next to see some more tall buildings and museums. The Art museum in Chicago had one of the best collections of original art i've seen. They had original Picazzos and Monets just to name a couple. They also had a section for new contemporary art that i found interesting.

One thing that I noticed while walking towards the Sears Tower was that there seemed to be a McDonalds at every single corner. That was kind of weird to me. I took the elevator to the top of the tower. (wow that was high) This was pretty cool for me since i'm afraid of heights. It felt as though i jumped out of a plane. Well, not exactly but it was cool.

I finished my sight seeing in Chicago with a walk down Michigan Ave for some shopping

Favourite spots:

Anywhere where they have deep dish pizza

What's really great:

Watching a game at historic Wrigley Field was the most memorable part of the trip being such a sports afficionado. Nothing like eating a hot dog, beer, and watching a baseball game in left field during the day.

Sights:

Restaurants:

Chicago has some good food if you can avoid all the darn McDonalds joints. Definetly go get some Deep Dish pizza at Giordano's.
