The Great Zimbabwe National Monument is the very place from which the entire country took its name, after it gained independence from Britain. It mean stone house. It is one of Africa's mysteries. It is potentially the oldest large stone structure in sub-Saharan Africa. It is unique and legends cruise around the country what it is and how long it is. UNESCO inscribed the site on their World Cultural Heritage List. The area is large and it is a park in its entirety. It is not easy to get there, which adds to the mysterious atmosphere of the place.
