There are so many places where scuba diving like the Red Sea in Egypt, the Caribbean or something more up my street the Great Barrier Reef.

My first attempt at scuba diving was in Australia; there I booked a day’s introduction course with a local company and spend the day on the ocean. The day was great however the journey to the dive spot was quite long, somehow I remember it being over an hour maybe even two; but once in the water with all the colours it was amazing.

I’m planning a trip to Belize for next year and I was just wondering whether anyone had ever dive the Blue Hole and could offer some advice as to what it is like there?

Amanda, I adore diving. I've been diving in Belize twice - did the Blue hole, which is an all day trip with a long boat ride there and back. It is unique and different but I was disappointed. Unless you are certified to go more than 130 feet, you don't see a lot that's really different.

I love diving in Belize though - the reef is wonderful! I also like Utila and Roatan in Honduras - same Reef. I'm diving in Nicaragua in two weeks at the south end of the Belize Reef.

Have a wonderful time - are you diving off Ambergris or Calker? I did a report on Ambergris a couple of years back.

Eire
