Now the capital of Autonomous Tatar Republic has beautiful kremlin with long white walls and about 20 museums. I had a full day to explore Kazan - from Volga River to the great mosque built in the kremlin. Tatars are very tolerant so everybody can go to thd special balcony to tale the pictures of the beautiful interior. From the other side Mr Lenin still stands in front of the opera house and many streets still have the names of the communist like Karl Marx or Dzerzhynsky. There are of course also Russian orthodox churches in this nice city. I tried to find and phothograph 100% Tatar ladies. Not easy task - during ages there were miixed with Russians... --- You can lose everything, but nobody will take away what you saw and what you experienced... W.D.
