It's so old almost people from the Mayflower still could have seen it... ;-) aufgehts - Apr, 02 2009 03:04pm I wish that was true...the original plantation house was burned by the Yankees (56th New York Infantry) at the end of the Civil War in 1865 so I'm not sure when this house was built. I would assume the house dated from the 17th cent, too. But that's just when the plantation was settled. The main gardens date from 1741.
