Trail Ridge Road's by aufgehts

Estes Park - United States, Colorado A view towards the visitor's center on the highest paved road in North America. The highest part of the road is over 12,000 ft and the road is only open from May until the beginning of October.

How high is the mountain in the picture- There seems to be a lot of vegetation?? aufgehts - Oct, 16 2009 02:10pm Hugh, this was not even the highest point of the drive...I'd say we were a bit over 11,000ft here. This was the last of the vegetation for the season...if you look really closely, in the flat area to the left was a herd of elk and a little stream. This area has been covered in snow now for over a week.
