Gellért's martyrdom took place on a hill in Budapest which is now named after him. Saint Gerard Sagredo (also known as Gellert or Gerhard; c. 980 — 1046) was an Italian bishop of Basque origin who operated in the Kingdom of Hungary (specifically in Budapest), educating Saint Emeric of Hungary (the son of Saint Stephen of Hungary). He played a major role in converting Hungary to Christianity.
