This is the restaurant for Peking Duck. Originally opened in 1864, it created the dish Westerners now call Peking duck. It has survived world wars, a civil war, a Communist government, and is now a legitimate tourist attraction, popular with Chinese and foreigners alike.
Expect to wait up to an hour and a half to be seated, and once inside, the price will blow your doors off, as each duck costs about 200 RMB ($30 US), which for a meal anywhere in China is very expensive. However, even with the long wait and high prices, it is a must see and do on any trip to Beijing.
