This slide show illustrates one of the most famous journeys in China. It starts in Guilin and continues for 83km down the Li River to Yangshou both in Guangxi Province of China.
The area claims over 2000 years of history and culture and it is these mystical mountains that have captivated artists, poets, scholars and tourists alike.
Now the journey has become almost a pilgrimage and the trip by boats varying from dilapidated to "luxury" in condition is a daily feature of river life. A large percentage of the tourist trade is domestic from within China.
Hope that you enjoy the mists, mountains and waters of this incredible part of China.
