Mae Hong Son - Thailand, Mae Hong Son As we followed narrow and often poorly kept trails, it become very obvious why you need a guide. Beyond the simple fact that the trail intersect and are completely unmarked (ignoring that if they had been marked, it would have been in Thai, which we didn't speak), the trails are often almost impossible to see.
