Udaipur, the Lake City, is famous for its many palaces. The City Palace, the largest palace in Rajasthan, is built in traditional Mewar style but with marvelous European finishes. Stunning mosaic Peacocks adorn the courtyard and a marvelous painting collection fills several halls. Resident artists still paint magnificent miniatures with fine brushes using a single squirrel hair. Take a boat ride out to the Lake Palace, now a hotel, in the middle of Lake Pichola, which has an incredible mirrored salon and fabulous furnishings. The Monsoon Palace sits high on a hill overlooking the city, with beautiful views of all three lakes. The hills contain a number of Temples and Monastries - great for an early morning climb up the well maintained staircases! Or drive 12 Km to Nagda to view the ruins of Saas Bahu Temple with its 2nd century stunning carvings!
