Known locally as the "four floors of whores", Orchard Towers is located near the west end of Orchard Road and will likely be the only glimpse of Singapore's red light that most visiting tourist will see, and is worth checking out if only for the experience. A detailed two-part reporting of Orchard Towers can be found in my travel log section, but the following is a brief summary. The clubs generally don't charge a cover, though Ipanema takes the funds for their one-drink minimum at the door. The clubs feature live 'copy bands' from the Philippines, and girls (and lady-boys) from all over Asia on tourist visas free-lancing as prostitutes. On Sundays, the clubs (especially the Blue Banana in the back of the front tower, lower level) are filled with Filipina maids having some fun on their day off. Check out Ba-Li-Ba, Blue Banana, Ipanema, Crazy Horse and Peyon Place in the front tower for live Top-40, R&B and Hip-Hop music, and Moonshine in the back tower upstairs for live Rock & Roll.
