Sabine, I do not know where is the turquoise colour is coming from, but I just uploaded a pix from same lake, seen from the shore.. the turquoise colour is still there! ;-)
btw Turquoise lake or Scorpion lake as it is sometimes known refers only to his colour (turqoise) or shape (scorpion), the real tibetan name is Yamdrok Tso, meaning the lake (Tso) of the high pasture (Yamdrok)

Is it possible that the turquoise colour is because the source of the water if from glaciers. When the ice is compressed over thousands of years it makes the colour change from clear to turquoise?
