Hello,

My BF and I are planning our trip to Tibet for July and we are wanting to see like EVERYWHERE! But the thing is that it is hard to get around some places and we are confused a bit on the best and most cost efficent way on getting to some of the more remote areas. If you have been there and know a good travel plan please let me know! Melissa: luckymel74@yahoo.com

Hey mel, Are you planning to start in Nepal and work you're way up to Tibet? There are a million and one travel agencies in Kathmandu who can provide you with transport and/or trips there.

How long did you want to go to Tibet for?

And i know a charity that ask travellers to Tibet if they will take aid there as well as 3month opportunities to teach with accomodation and food provided.

I think the only real way to travel is by landrover. The land and the roads aren't very good i hear and anyway you're in a very mountainous country. Check out www.rokpa.org it is a charity working in Tibet. You maybe able to arrange taking aid to places that really need it and maybe they can give you some good advice too, it's worth a try anyway. Sorry i can't be any more help. All i know about travel in Tibet is that there are mostly guided tours so independant travelling is difficult and trying to leave it to get to Nepal by road is a violent free-for-all that sees even the most pleasent of people pushing old grannies out the way to garuntee passage. Good Luck!

Are you travelling inJuly? Then why fly to Lahasa? In July a train would be introduced between Beijing and Lahsa...so why not take that new train and experience it? Seems the train route is wonderful from the pictures i sw on the tv.

Since you are a chinese citizen, i think you may not have any problem in roaming about in Tibet except sensitive areas. But if you are a non -chinese person, then you need so Tibet permit and restricted permits.

Travel in Tibet is either by van or by trekking...i think trekking would be the best as you can enjoy the nature and rest wherever you want to.
