Has anyone flown recently? We are taking off the Inida on Friday, flying from San Francisco through London and are being asked to take only 1 laptop sized carry-on. It seems electronic devices are being allowed now, but no food, and of course, no liquids. No cosmetics (after 23 hours of airplanes/airports a girl could use a little lipstick). Does anyone have an update as to how strictly they are following these rules? One small carry on is going to be hard to stick with.
Thanks!

I heard about this too because of the UK plot. This is for the US, so I don't know about other countries. I did some research and here's what I came up with:
1. No liquids or gels on carry-on baggage. It will be allowed on checked items.
2. beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, toothpaste, hair gel, and other
items of similar consistency.
3. Baby formula and medicine is okay when it is checked at the checkpoint.
4. Solid cosmetics are okay. like lipstick or deodorant but no aerosol.
Hope this helps --- Wunderkind

I just wanted to add an update. We flew through London last Sunday on British Airways, and the transit station, which everyone has to clear before transferring flights took a full hour to clear. If you have a tight connection, the airline can arrange for you to clear without waiting in the cue. The restrictions were very tightly enforced. One carryone bag, no food, no cosmetics, no fluids of any kind. Mounds of discarded water bottles, lipsticks and lotions were clustered at various places in the line. Otherwise, everything was fine.

Eire,
I've been enjoying you travel logs, I'll glad you're having a fantastic time.
Just a quick one, you mentioned about lipsticks etc, but did you have any difficulties with cameras, PDA or MP3s?

I had a camera, a blackberry and a Ipod, and had no problems with any of these. They allowed my knitting needles (circular) without any problem as well. One thing - the carry on bag is strictly limited to a laptop sized bag - no overhead bin bags or rolling luggage. Strictly laptop sized dimensions.
Hope that helps!

Canadian and American airline passengers will now be allowed to carry a bottle of water, a cup of coffee or a small bottle of shampoo or conditioner onto flights.
Still, passengers must follow strict guidelines if they plan to pack these items into their carry-on.
Any liquids, gels or aerosols must be in containers no larger than 90 millilitres and have to be easily placed in a clear, resealable plastic bag no bigger than a litre. Each passenger will be allowed only one bag - and it must be able to be closed.
Prescription medicines or baby foods are still exempt from the ban, but must be declared at security checkpoints. --- LIFE IS AN ATTITUDE! ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU WISH YOU COULD! ALWAYS!
