Heating up the chat room

Problem is that we do have over 1400 minutes a day where people can miss each other. Now with just a few members online this is a tough one. I have found that people miss each other by minutes! The chat room is a great tool to get others better know, to find new friends from all over the world and to motivate some new members to post content. In the upcomming weeks I will employ a developer working on that chat (this is a high complex task and he is a crack on that ;-). So what do you guys think we need first to help you heat up the room? Here are some ideas: - 2 aditional chat rooms if we get the room running to escape but not to leave. - Proper logout functionality - Akustik "has joined" sounds I am searching for THE idea on how to help you jump start it, but I have not found it so far. The invite to chat function is a good start, but could be improved some how. Let me know what you think and if you have some good ideas. Group and forum discussions are fine in a chat room – but one is guarded in what one says in such an open arena. Frank discussions and interchange are possible where an IM system operates. Such systems are in place on both Yahoo and AOL. This system I feel would certainly make the present chat room facility feasible and more user friendly. Members could log on and park there and IM as and when they wished - choosing who they speak or respond to. Andy will no doubt comment if this is (a) possible or (b) too difficult/expensive to create. --- Cheers! Never tried the yahoo and AOL chat rooms so far. What would be great if the people inside the private area could also contribute to the rest of the chat, otherwise I do not see a big advantage concerning getting more people into the chat room. The chat is an external engine and I will have to talk to the developer how he judges it and how much this will be. However AOL members enter the chat room and can communicate simultaneously in the chat room as well as by IM at the same time. Take a free look! It would work well because GLOBO’s members are (generally) of a higher intellect and have a common purpose – travel as a catalyst! Brit --- Cheers! Today I got a lot of problems chatting with picasso, well not I picasso was the one who didn't see what I was telling him... Whenever I come online and see that our member of the mont Matt is online I check out the chat room... I noticed him being there sometimes ;-) I always have a lot of fun chatting with him, I also sometimes had the misfortune to go there when he was chatting up a girl... (he did it once) well I left quickly as not to disturb them very much. A private room would be a good thing therefore. All the other things as proper log in log out procedures, chat invitation with sound and so on sound good for me. Sometimes it isn't that easy to take part in a discussion that has already gone on for a long time but what the hell.... And when there come these members that are only here to chat up people of the other gender it becomes difficult too. I felt extreamly uncomfortable that Mort felt like he had to leave just cos I was in the middle of something with someone . And if you can do a camunity room but then choose who ya wanna get cozy with in the privacy of your own little room,well that would be awesome. Its so important to have that place were we can all come together and learn from each other and meet newbies and help point them in the right direction.....cos its these newbies that turn into outstanding members of the month hheheheehehehehe!!!!. see ya all in the chat!!!
