Hello everybody,
it has been quite some time now that we saw the GLOBO newsletter. I am happy to announce that it will be back in place very soon! Make sure your settings are correct in order to receive it. Go to "edit profile" -> "Settings" -> "Send me a newsletter once in a while."
Well... once in a while is just around the corner :-)
Stay tuned, rolling out 30.000 E-Mails!
Best regards, Andy

Ok, here we go :-)
That was quicker then I thought. The newsletter is in production. Currently the server is processing 27063 e-mails to all members that have subscribed to the newsletter. Delivery might take up to 48 hours depending on internet traffic and on what provider you are with (hotmail etc.).
I do appreciate any kind of feedback regarding the newsletter. Did you receive it? Was the formating OK. What about the content? Did you find errors I have overlooked?
Thank you in advance for your feedback!
Andy

Hello Andreas,
the newsletter looks great and will hopefully 'revive' a lot of inactive members.

Great, I think the awards would make an effective newsletter EVERY month. Easy to publish! --- Rudolf "Rangutan" Graspointner

I am impressed with the newsletter, good format, for some reason my server had marked it as spam and it was only today when checked everything that I realised it was sitting unopened! better late than never, Kind Regards to all, Tony. --- I am no longer a stranger in a strange land.

--- quoting rangutan ---Great, I think the awards would make an effective newsletter EVERY month. Easy to publish! --- end quote ---Hello everybody,
thank you for all your replies. Rudi is right, it is relativly easy to publish. Another thing is to deliver. That is where the work comes from. Sending out 30K E-Mails is one thing, delivering them another. Back in 2002 this was not a hard job to do, but now in 2010 when we see 95% of e-mail traffic is spam this is a full time job - just to do this one litle task with a good success rate. This is why the newsletter stoped. Right now we do see an opening rate of about 5%. I belive it will climb up till 8% during the next days.
If you do see the newsletter marked as spam, please take the time and mark it as "not spam". This will help to deliver the newsletter in the future at hotmail and others.
Best regards,
Andy [edited by andreas at 2010-03-15 09:22]

Hi Andy, I am in full agreement with the previous replies and also would like to see it monthly I realise that with the amount of spam which is being sent it is always a good idea to look at items marked as spam as the server may not always be correct, keep up the good work!, regards, Tony. --- I am no longer a stranger in a strange land.

Email is old fashioned for many anyway, perhaps we could send out the newsletter on other social networks like Twitter, MySpace, FaceBook (create a Group there, "Group" is the correct word in that community :-) There is a list of networks where we need groups established at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_network_service We would need a place in our profiles to state where we are and get new members to state what other communities they are a member of. (if they want) ...
Send a ROCKET newsletter once every three years forced from a different domain asking members to reply if they DON'T want anymore mail and to reply to UPDATE there profiles; age, links, interests etc. One then gets four categories of users:
1) the mail comes back if address no longer exists
2) comes back as spam (then try another way/provider)
3) message returns to discontinue mail service
4) no reply (the passive member)
5) replies to update (the active member)
The 4 & 5s then get the newsletter in future, I guess 20%
