Hi
I'm all for spam detection and removal but I have just received a message in red ink acccusing me of writing spam and saying that my account may be deleted without notice. What have I done to deserve this colossal punishment? I've told two people on my friends list about a small writing group I belong to and invited them to contact me privately if they would like to join.
I did it because i thought they might be interested and have no intention of pestering them of they are not - I even said so in one case.
If that was a crime, I apologise but surely i don't have to be booted out for it.
Cheers, david --- Grieve not for that which you cannot do but rejoice in that which you can.

Serious members be relieved... this has happened to some of us. The "WARNING" is perhaps overdone/overstated but ACTION will be carried out for only some dubious visitors. It protects all of us from misuse on the web/internet specially from the advertising freaks. I always wished that GLOBO members commmunicate multi-member, we do have the "chat" and "forum" if we have something to say to more than one member, rather than post the message to a lot of individuals. We are a community!
I agree totaly with staff that multiple messages be blocked as/to avoid spamming. That is why I like GLOBO most, it is secure and safe. We discussed this message/error before in the "forum" but I cannot now find the link quicky now because there is no search option, there was a similar forum posting just a month ago! David,
I, likewise received a similar warning and posted a notice similar to this. Thanks to Rudi for helping to calm me. This seems to be built into the system. When someone uses a repeat function or a cut and paste function on some of the messages, the warning is activated. Certainly you have done nothing wrong. If you have, then the majority of the rest of us are in danger.

i too came across this, a way around it is to just change the wording a bit in each letter you send, not too much just enough to show it's not spam..

As I said I'm all for spam detection and I agree about Globo having got it near to right. I think anybody who has received that mesage will see why I was Bothered!

Hi everybody,
here is a bit background info on the system:
The GLOBO build in security system checks for similarity each members sents. If the similarity is to high on a to short term the system asumes that there is a spamer and does not deliver the message, but places the alert tag in red and sents an warning to the administrator of GLOBO (that would be me :-) with all text and info available. The system does also check for certain spammer IPs and spam words like "investment" and some other techniques. Without the warning email the admin can determine if the account has to be deleted or not. Actually I recieve such an request every day on average and most of the accounts have to be deleted. Unfortunatelly messaging more thatn one member with the same message is not possible with that system. There are always downfalls. But I guess you guys would rather know about this limitation than to recieve junk mail over GLOBO, right? Some of you might remember that we had a small upcomming problem with "nigeria scammers" a few months ago. Thanx to the GLOBO security system this problem did disapear.
Hope this info helps a bit to understand the process behind the agressive message.
Best regards,
Andy

Thanks Andy
I was a bit shaken at the time but you are of course correct. Avoidance of spam is imperative.

Thank yo so much Andy and all your staff for this security option. It works! I also tried to send the same message to two/three members once before and it was blocked. I know now why this is neccessary and thus have enjoyed GLOBO for nearly a YEAR now, since then;
- not one single alien entry on my private email address
- no forced advertisement, sponsors welcome
- no spam/flooding
- no viruses
- offensive material not tolerated, always removed quickly.
One year bof absolute harmony and pure pleasure at GLOBO. Thank you and keep it this way, new members will be very pleased
